For AI assistants

Ask your AI about Maltese food

Connect Claude, or any assistant that speaks MCP, to Best Food on Malta and ask it for places to eat, shop and drink in plain language.

What is MCP?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets AI assistants use websites and apps on your behalf. Think of it as a universal plug: once your assistant is connected, it can look things up in our directory while it talks to you, instead of guessing from whatever it learned in training.

You

“Where can I get good pastizzi near Valletta?”

Your AI assistant

Claude, or any app that supports MCP, works out what to look up.

Best Food on Malta

Restaurants, stores, wineries, recipes and the reviews people have left.

What happens when you ask

  1. 1. You ask

    In your own words, in the chat you already use.

  2. 2. It looks it up

    Your assistant asks our MCP server, for example to search restaurants in Valletta.

  3. 3. We answer

    The server sends back published listings and their reviews, nothing else.

  4. 4. You get an answer

    Your assistant replies with real places and links to their pages here.

Connect your assistant

Add this address as an MCP server, sometimes called a connector or a remote server. Reading the directory needs no account. Step-by-step setup for each app.

Server address https://bestfoodonmalta.com/mcp

Claude

In Claude on the web or desktop, open Customize, then Connectors, add a custom connector and paste the server address. That covers searching, reading and reviewing.

Claude Code

Run this once in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http best-food-on-malta https://bestfoodonmalta.com/mcp

Other assistants

Look for MCP, connectors or remote servers in its settings. Apps that use a config file take something like:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "best-food-on-malta": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://bestfoodonmalta.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

What your assistant can do

The server offers your assistant a handful of tools. Most are open to anyone; adding a place to the directory needs an account, just as it does on the website.

Open to everyone

  • search_listings Find restaurants, stores, wineries and recipes by name, place or keyword.
  • get_listing Read one listing in full, with its address and description.
  • list_reviews Read the reviews people have left on a listing.
  • submit_review Leave a review. As on the website, no account is needed, and the same spam checks apply.

It only sees what you can see

Your assistant gets exactly what any visitor sees on this website. If it is not on a public page, the server does not hand it out.

What it can read

  • Published restaurants, stores, wineries and recipes
  • Their addresses and descriptions
  • Reviews, with the name the reviewer chose to show

What it never gets

  • Email addresses or passwords
  • Drafts waiting to be checked
  • Anything from your account other than what you post
