Root 81

We had a fantastic meal for two. We had the duck carpaccio for starter, and the flavours were to die for. Main course had the chicken supreme… I was nervous cos I know how difficult it is to keep the chicken moist. It was perfect. Absolutely delicious. Followed up
With a great desert. All in all good is excellent and great service. Even the head chef had time to talk to us. Lovely experience and I’ll gladly come back.

Yesterday evening, we celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary with dinner at Root 81, and the entire experience was wonderful.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Manu and Robert, who provided exceptional service and continued attention throughout the evening. We had mentioned our anniversary when making the reservation, and Manu immediately offered his congratulations when he greeted us, which was a lovely personal touch.

We were seated at a table overlooking a beautiful view, where we could also enjoy the cool evening breeze. The wine was delicious; the food was delectable, with rounded flavours and different textures enriching the taste; and the service was truly second to none.

At the end of the meal, the staff surprised us with dessert served on a beautifully decorated plate, complete with sparklers. They also kindly offered us a complimentary drink to round off a perfect evening.

Thank you to everyone at Root 81, particularly Robert and Manu for making our anniversary so memorable. We will certainly be back!

Highlight of this restaurant is the location! Absolutely beautiful, perfect spot for a romantic dinner.

The rest wasn’t that great.
First of all, general impression of the food was: not bad. Octopus appetizer looked and tasted like cat food. Tasteless almost. Only good meal was a chicken liver pate, so rich and delicious. Very very good!
Then we tried duck breast, which was unseasoned and a bit overcooked. Duck sandwich on the side was much better. Chicken cordon blue also tasteless. Sauces on the side weren’t good either, all the food lacked spices.
And finally for the desert we had pistachio tiramisu and date shortbread with ice cream. Tiramisu fine, nothing special about it, but vanilla ice cream was full of ice flakes…

Second- one toilet to use for both, guests and staff. It was occupied, so I waited in front of the door. One of the staff came out, and I noticed that I only heard the sound of flushing and he was out. Meaning he didn’t even wash his hands!!!! Seriously?????
Also bread and butter served after almost 20 minutes of sitting there.
When we asked what is the duck sandwich in the duck main course, young lady said it’s a duck meat in the sandwich. Thank you for such a non- answer…

Im sorry, but this was the first and last time we were here. Really nothing was that impressive to come again.

This was truly a 5 star experience from start to finish !
We did the tasting menu, sitting outside at sunset with an incredible view.
Service was stellar, from both the owner and his other staff.
Every course was delicious and of good portions, especially the tuna fillet.
Good wine. Would love to come back to taste all their other dishes it only we were back ! Would highly recommend

Root 81 is such a lovely place. I went on Friday evening. The team is so welcoming and the chef even came to say hi. The place is so elegant and the background music ties everything beautifully. And the food - OMG. Simply beautiful!!! Highly recommended !!!
