Trattoria 'a Lanterna

Such a great experience dining here. We enjoyed every dish ordered and had the best tiramisu. Was one of the highlights of visiting my family in Malta!

Excellent food, with every dish prepared to perfection and bursting with flavor. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian dining experience, this is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Malta.

The pesto pasta is absolutely incredible, and the tiramisu is the best I’ve ever had. It’s no surprise that they have won the Best Tiramisu competition five years in a row.

I can’t wait to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu. Highly recommended!

Amazing atmosphere, quiet street. It’s a quiet restaurant but everything is homemade. We got pesto pasta and squid ink both were phenomenal. The waitress gave a lovely wine recommendation. And the homemade desserts are class. We got the strawberry cheesecake. 10/10. The chef even came out to see how the food was. Defo recommend.

This is my second time in Malta & Trattoria 'a Lanterna is by far the best restaurant I've eaten at. A real hidden gem. I adore Maltese food but getting a taste of true Italy was also superb.

It's the kind of restaurant you enter & immediately know you're in good hands & the food will slap. We managed to get the last table so for weekends I'd definitely recommend trying to book. Our server was so friendly & delivered great service even adding complimentary focaccia & some limoncello for afters. I love that the chef came out to chat with people through the evening & asked us how everything was. I've never had that in a restaurant before but it showed true care & passion.

Although I love Malta, it was great to immerse oneself in food from a particular region of Italy. The people who run this lovely restaurant were genuine as was the food which was outstanding and felt as if we were in Liguria for the period we had a lovely meal at this restaurant. Service was first class and the whole experience was very memorable.
